LGBTQ Inclusion

Our Federation is committed to making our Jewish community a safe and welcoming place for our LGBTQ friends, family, and neighbors. Over the past year we have been collaborating with the Mandell Jewish Community Center, Jewish Family Services, Jewish Teen Learning Connection (JTConnect), Hebrew High School of New England, and local rabbis and other professionals to develop effective approaches to LGBTQ inclusion, particularly for Jewish LGBTQ teens.

Our recent programs have included "Not So Straight Talk about LGBT Inclusion," a workshop for Jewish educators and communal professionals led by a national representative from Keshet, and "The Secret Life of Teens," a workshop with noted youth advocate and HIV/AIDS educator Scott Fried. We have also sponsored and participated in the Hartford Capital City Pride celebration.
